What is Acupuncture

Acupuncture is perhaps the best known treatment method in the Far East, with roots in Ancient China. Very fine needles (disposable) are painlessly inserted into specific points (acu-points) to positively affect the nervous, endocrine and energy systems. The therapeutic effects of acupuncture, like other methods of PKI, occur on many levels. The aim is always to assist the body to regain its natural balance and health.

Acupuncture is the most widespread treatment method in traditional and complementary medicine, with 113 countries having officially included acupuncture in their health care system (WHO Global Report on Traditional and Complementary Medicine).

Over 2 billion people worldwide and 12 million in the Americas use acupuncture.

Chinese Medicine

Chinese medicine has been practiced systematically for at least 3000 years. Its methods and practical applications have evolved and consolidated over the centuries into a fully applicable treatment system.

Today, more than a quarter of the world’s population uses one or more of its treatment methods. Thus, in Greece, more and more people are resorting to Chinese medicine to deal with physical and psychosomatic problems.

Chinese medicine sees all the functions of the individual, physical and mental, connected to his environment as a single, interconnected whole. It does not isolate specific symptoms or manifestations, but seeks to see them as part of the overall “imbalance picture”, the so-called “syndrome”.

It was founded in the 50’s by Chao Chen and was further organized and taught openly, worldwide by the great acupuncturist Richard Teh-Fu Tan making it experience tremendous acceptance to the level of being one of the most popular and most used systems worldwide.
